Chapter 11. Providing Remote Access for ... > Adding a Mac OS X Server VPN to Your...

Adding a Mac OS X Server VPN to Your Windows Network

If you use Windows Server 2008’s Direct Access feature instead of a VPN, and you have a Mac OS X server running in a magic triangle setup, you may prefer not to set up a Windows-based VPN for your Mac clients. Instead, you can set up the Mac OS X server as the VPN server and have the Macs connect to the network through it.

To set up a VPN on your Mac OS X server, you need to turn on the VPN service (if it’s not already running) and configure it (if it’s not configured). You can then start the service and choose the users you will allow to connect to it.
