A.6. Ethernet Jumbo Frames

One Gigabit Ethernet vendor has developed a proprietary system of sending oversized Ethernet frames, called jumbo frames , to increase throughput on high-speed Ethernet links. While the use of jumbo frames has been adopted by some other vendors, there is no official IEEE standard for jumbo frames and therefore no way to guarantee interoperability.
