Yurie Ito joined ICANN in April 2008 as a director of global security programs, where she leads ICANN’s involvement in collaborative response activities and works with ICANN partner organizations and stakeholders at global and regional levels in implementing ICANN security, stability, and resiliency programs. Before joining ICANN, she was a director of technical operation at JPCERT/CC, Japan’s National CSIRT, where she still works as a global coordination director. Yurie served as a steering committee member and a board director of Forum of Incident Response Security Teams (FIRST) from 2005 to 2011. She also is an active leader in the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Teams (APCERT) where JPCERT/CC participates on the steering committee and provides the secretariat.
Derrick Scholl is the director of security engineering and response at Sun Microsystems. He is responsible for all aspects of security engineering and response across the entire Sun Microsystems product line. During his tenure as head of the security response team, Derrick has been instrumental in a number of improvements to Sun’s handling of security vulnerabilities. With focuses on speed, quality, and constant communication with customers, Sun is a recognized leader in security response. Derrick began his career at Sun more than 12 years ago as a service engineer. He has also held positions as a sustaining engineer and a program manager before taking the reins of the security coordination team in 2000. Derrick is also the current president and chairman of the steering committee of Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), which is a global forum of member teams who work together on multiple aspects of security. Derrick holds a B.S. degree in computer and electrical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA degree from Santa Clara University.
