AP Debugs and Show Commands

Although you usually run debug and show commands from the wireless controller CLI, in some instances running these directly on the AP that the client is associating with is necessary. There might actually be a problem with the AP radio; perhaps it stops beaconing as addressed by Cisco bug ID CSCsr09415. In this case, the controller showed no signs of a problem with the AP radio. After issuing a show controller on the AP, however, it became clear that the AP had stopped beacons and probes even though the radio was up. Another example of when you might need to run debugs directly on the AP is if you are troubleshooting a client problem with an H-REAP mode AP that is in standalone mode. H-REAP is covered in Chapter 13, “H-REAP.”
