Chapter 2. Working with Programs > Using the Clipboard

Using the Clipboard

The Office Clipboard is one of the tools Office XP uses to help you move data, pictures, paragraphs, charts, and more from one document to another. The Clipboard functions like a 3-D clipboard—you take a document out of a file and put it on the Clipboard until you need it. When you’re working with the file you want to add it to, you take it off the Clipboard and slip it in the file.

Microsoft Windows XP—and now Office XP—improved the way the Clipboard operates, enabling you to save as many as 24 different items from any and all applications. You also can display the Clipboard in the task pane along the right side of the program window so that you can easily see what you want to paste into the current file.
