Managing Email

Managing email is really just a matter of determining what to do with your received email messages, although you can manage the Sent Items folder and messages that you save in other folders for later consideration. Whether you read your messages in the Reading pane or prefer to open them in a separate window, all the commands that you need to manage individual messages are easily accessible via the Ribbon. If you are working in the Inbox folder, the Mail Ribbon provides most of the message management commands on the Home tab. If you are working with a received message that you have opened in its own window, the message management commands are on the Ribbon’s Message tab (which is the only tab available other the File tab that takes you to the Backstage). You will find that more commands related to dealing with a message are on the Message tab of the message window’s Ribbon. So, you might want to open a message if you want to quickly perform an action related to that message. Figure 23.16 shows the message window’s Ribbon with the Message tab selected.
