Chapter 4. Formatting Text > Copy Formatting

4.14. Copy Formatting

If you need to use the same formatting only once or twice, and you do not want to go to the trouble of creating a style, you can make one section of text in your document look exactly like another by copying the formatting. For more information on creating and applying styles, see the tasks "Create a Quick Style" and "Apply a Quick Style."

If you copy the formatting of text that contains more than one type of the same formatting, such as multiple fonts, then Word copies only the first type of formatting. For example, if you select a paragraph that contains the Times New Roman font followed by the Arial font, then Word copies only the Times New Roman font format.
