Math Formulas

Use the following functions to perform mathematical calculations on your worksheet data.

COMBIN
	COMBIN(number, number_chosen)

The COMBIN function finds the number of possible combinations when you select number_chosen items from a collection that is number in size. When you calculate the number of possible combinations, you don’t care in which order the items are selected (e.g., 1, 2, 3 is the same as 3, 2, 1 and 2, 1, 3). If the order of the selected items does matter, you should use the PERMUT function to calculate the number of possible permutations.

Example: =COMBIN(52, 5) returns 2,598,960.

FACT
	FACT(number)

The FACT function finds the factorial of a number, which is defined as multiplying each counting number from 1 to number (e.g., the factorial of 4 is 1 * 2 * 3 * 4, or 24).
