Copying Formats with the Format Painter

After you create a format for a cell or group of cells, you can copy the format from one group of cells to another group of cells using the Format Painter. The Format Painter lets you copy the format quickly, saving you the time and effort it would take to copy the contents of another cell with the desired format and then change the data or formula.

Copy Styles with the Format Painter

Select the cells with the formatting you want to copy.

Click the Home tab.

In the Clipboard group, click the Format Painter button.

Select the cells where you want the formatting applied.
