Chapter 7. Moving Beyond Text: Publishin... > Adding Photos, Clip Art, and Other G...

7.5. Adding Photos, Clip Art, and Other Graphics

Publishing Layout view shines when it comes to adding and formatting photos, clip art, charts, and other graphics. It’s easy to do and it makes posters and newsletters sing. You can drag photos from iPhoto, a Finder window or most other sources right on to your page. If you need to find your photo you may prefer to use the Insert→Photo menu, where you can browse your way to a folder with photos. And of course, you can use any graphics you’ve stored in the scrapbook (View→Scrapbook) or the Media Browser (View→Media Browser).

If you need to visually describe the relationship between people, places or things, check out the options on the SmartArt tab. There are more details about SmartArt on Section 22.3.4. When you’re putting together your company’s profit and loss statistics, you’ll want to illustrate those numbers with one of the charts found on the Charts tab. These charts draw their data from Excel spreadsheets which you can learn about on Section 17.2.
