18 | Chapter 2: Automation without Programming AutoText From the perspective of document automation, AutoText, a cousin of AutoCorrect, is much more versatile and can begin to provide some real and meaningful document automation. With AutoText, a large block of text (as opposed to the relatively short phrase or sentence with AutoCorrect) is typi- cally saved under a one-word name. That text can be, for example, the entire body of a letter. Accordingly, if you have five or six form letters, the body of each can be saved in AutoText and retrieved merely by typing a single word. Vari- ables within the body of such letters can be stored as blank lines and filled in after the AutoText is inserted. In Word 2007, AutoText is not part of the standard Rib- bon commands.
