Up to this point, the book has focused on the specific components and tasks necessary to get OES NetWare ready to support the business needs of the 21st century. Part III looks at the specific features and offerings in OES NetWare that make it the preeminent network operating system for conducting eBusiness.

Think for a minute about what you need to do business in today's world. You have far-flung employees, mobile users moving from site to site, partners and suppliers that need to provide and receive critical information, and the open access Internet—across which you need to send mission-critical and often confidential information. To manage all this, you need to develop a new paradigm—a new way of looking at things—and OES NetWare does just that.

Chapter 10, “OES NetWare File Storage and Management,” introduces you to the powerful features of Novell Storage Service (NSS), which provides unparalleled flexibility and security for your critical business data. In addition to NSS, OES NetWare offers some exciting new options, such as NetWare distributed file system and storage area network capabilities through iSCSI. After all, the data is what the network is all about, right?

Chapter 11, “OES Printing Services,” introduces one of the most ubiquitous services on a network—printing. Novell iPrint has applied Novell's oneNet vision to printing. It's never been so easy to install, configure, and print on a network—no matter where you are or where the printer is.

Chapter 12, “OES NetWare File Access,” introduces the file access options in OES NetWare in support of Novell's oneNet vision. These tools make it possible to provide users with access to the information they need seamlessly and securely, regardless of location, time, or anything else. After all, your job as a network administrator revolves around making sure that users can access what they need when they need it—nothing more than that.
