Appendix C. Case Studies

When it comes to implementing IT systems there is often a disconnect between theory and practice. So hearing anecdotes from organizations that have successfully implemented Linux and open source systems in their enterprises is a helpful way to see how a plan becomes part of a projection environment. The case studies contained within this appendix are examples of companies, governments, and educational institutions that have successfully used both commercial and free/open source software on Linux to save money and improve their computing environments.
