Part II: Maintenance and Troubleshooting > Database Maintenance and Troubleshoo...

Chapter 14. Database Maintenance and Troubleshooting

In this chapter, we discuss the proper care and feeding of your Domino databases—how to keep them up and running and performing their best for your users. One part of this is maintenance and repair, which includes troubleshooting problems. The other part is management, which is maximizing or optimizing your databases so they reach their full potential while you control their growth and development.

This chapter also defines the roles of the administrator and the database manager/owner, that are not necessarily assigned to the same person or group. The database designer or developer also has some impact on the performance of the database. Whoever occupies these roles must be aware of this interaction and know the areas of responsibility for each.
