Once you have established a connection, the next step is to start up an interactive session. The system needs to know who you are and what you want to do. In this chapter we will look at the various factors that control the logon process. You will learn how to log on, how sessions can be limited or restricted, ways to override some logon restrictions, and how to properly manage passwords. We will also take a first look at two fundamental structures of the MPE/iX file system: accounts and groups.
