Application developers and system administrators face similar challenges in managing the performance of a computer system. Performance management starts with application design and development and migrates to administration and tuning of the deployed production system or systems. It is necessary to keep performance in mind at all stages in the development and deployment of a system and application. There is a definite overlap in the responsibilities of the developer and administrator.
