WebSphere MQ

IMS applications can access WebSphere MQ messages in two ways:

• The IMS application can use the WebSphere MQ API to issue MQGET and MQPUT messages with syncpoint coordination with IMS.

• The IMS Bridge, an OTMA client, can send and receive IMS messages.

Using the WebSphere MQ API in IMS Dependent Regions

Application programs running in IMS-dependent regions (MPR, IFP, and BMP) can use the WebSphere MQ API to access messages. The API calls use the IMS External Subsystem (ESS) interface, which is the same interface used by DB2 for syncpoint coordination. IMS is the syncpoint manager. These programs must be linked with the WebSphere MQ IMS stub (CSQQSTUB). This interface is not supported for JMP or JBP regions.

IMS batch regions cannot use the ESS interface. Syncpoint coordination requires z/OS Resource Recovery Services (RRS). The programs must be linked with the WebSphere MQ two-phase commit batch stub (CSBRRSI). If syncpoint coordination is not required, the programs can use the WebSphere MQ batch stub (CSQBSTUB).
