This JumpStart configures a printer that is connected directly to the local system. The fastest way to add a new printer is to use system-config-printer (FEDORA) or redhat-config-printer (RHEL), a simple wrapper script that launches either the textual or the graphical version of printconf-gui, depending on whether it detects an X server. You can run [system|redhat]-config-printer from a command line or from the Gnome or K (Red Hat) menus: System Setting->Printing.
From the [system|redhat]-config-printer Printer configuration window (Figure 14-1), click the New button to display the Add a new print queue wizard. Click Forward to display Queue name window (Figure 14-2). Enter a name for, and a short description of, the printer. The name is a short identifier that starts with a letter and does not contain any SPACEs. The description can be a short sentence. Click Forward.
