Before you use ZENworks for the first time, you must change the ZENworks update tool to verify installation sources by checksum instead of signature and update it so that some bugs in the initial release are patched. Follow these steps:
1. | Go to YaST by clicking on the main menu button, then on the System category, then on YaST. In GNOME, click the Applications menu in the lower left, select System, and then click on YaST. |
2. | Type in your root password when prompted, and press the Enter key. |
3. | When the main YaST screen comes up, click on Online Update. |
4. | After a few moments, you’ll be presented with a list of updates. If there are no updates shown, then see the message below regarding this problem. Otherwise, the ZENworks files will already be selected, so just click on the Accept button in the lower-right corner. |
5. | The updates will be downloaded and installed. Click Finish when the process has completed. You may be asked to restart the YaST Online Update tool again; go ahead and rerun it as many times as necessary. Most people will have to go through this process two or three times. If a dependency error with the Java Development Kit comes up, choose the option to ignore it and continue. |
6. | Close all programs, then restart your computer through the main menu. |
7. | After you’ve rebooted and are back in SUSE, open a terminal in KDE by clicking the black monitor icon in the lower-left corner of your screen or, in GNOME, by opening the Applications menu, selecting System, and then Terminal, and then Gnome Terminal. |
8. | Type in this command to switch to root permissions: su |
9. | Type in this command to adjust the ZENworks verification process: rug set-prefs security-level checksum |
