Chapter 6. Launching Your Desktop > Configuring the Compiz Window Manager

Configuring the Compiz Window Manager

Generally speaking, GNOME has better support for Xgl and Compiz than KDE at this point. For this reason, the easiest way to set up Compiz and Xgl effects is by using the GNOME Control Panel Desktop Effects module. When you do this, GNOME will check your video card against its database of Xgl-compatible hardware. You may get a caution if your hardware isn’t listed as fully compatible, but as long as you support 3D graphics, you’ll be allowed to use the tabs to configure Compiz.

Click Window Effects to make your windows wobble when they appear or are moved, among other things.
