AD DS design is a topic that could take up an entire book by itself. As described in this chapter, AD DS design consists of understanding the organization’s requirements for the AD DS design, designing the top-level components first, and then moving to lower-level components to meet those designs. This means that the first step in AD DS design is to create the forest design. This is followed by the domain design, then the DNS design, and finally the OU design. As you create the AD DS logical structure, you also need to design the physical AD DS components by designing the sites and domain controller placements.
