Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) provides a full-featured directory service for securing and managing an organization’s internal network resources. AD DS can also be extended to users outside the organization so that it can be used to authenticate user requests for Web access, authenticate remote connections to Exchange Servers, and authenticate remote access connections. However, because AD DS provides a central store for all users’ accounts, AD DS services are extended only to those users with accounts.
