Additional Active Directory Service Roles
In addition to AD DS, you can deploy a computer running the Windows Server 2008 operating system in four additional Active Directory Service roles. The four additional AD Service roles are as follows:
Active Directory Certificate Services Role (AD CS)
Active Directory Federation Services Role (AD FS)
Active Directory Lightweight Services Role (AD LS)
