Summary

In this chapter, you learned about the web services that the Microsoft CRM 2011 system exposes and how to use them to extend the functionality and make customizations.

You explored the Discovery service that is used to find the right access endpoint of your organization especially useful for multitenancy environments, and you have seen how the Organization service manages the entity records with all the samples you will need to create new records for any entity, and update, delete, or retrieve existing records. You also looked at the metadata web service used to make customizations programmatically; for example, to create a new custom entity or attributes by calling this web service. We also viewed how to use the ODATA service by using REST on JavaScript code.
