To better understand what SharePoint is and how to best use its features, this section takes a brief tour through the product and provides introductions to a few of its most useful features and capabilities.

1.3.1. SharePoint Central Administration

The target audience for this book is SharePoint developers and not IT Pros. Therefore, it does not cover administrative tasks, and it does not provide instructions on how to set up SharePoint from scratch. Nevertheless, as soon as you install a SharePoint server farm, you are presented with an administrative console called SharePoint Central Administration (SPCA) with which you manage the entire farm.
