In this chapter, you will create a solution that coordinates responses to requests for proposals, or RFPs. The SharePoint 2007 platform included the Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (the “Fab 40”), which included an RFP template designed for creating, releasing, and managing RFP submissions. The solution in this chapter is designed from a different perspective—that of a services company responding to an RFP.

The process of responding to RFPs is common in the services and consulting worlds. Depending on the services being offered, it can be time-consuming and challenging to coordinate the resources and expertise required to create an effective, accurate, and consistent response.
