Custom Data Models

You can create or customize a data model in Service Manager by manually editing the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) of an MP or by using the Authoring Tool available for Service Manager. This chapter discusses how to use the Service Manager Authoring Tool.

To explain the concept of data modeling in Service Manager, the next sections discuss creating a data model you can use to describe different types of buildings in the Service Manager database. The example is a simplified version of how a real model would look; its purpose is to show what is possible to do within Service Manager, rather than to show how to define a perfect model for buildings.
