Security

Security in any technology is always challenging, because threats keep coming and they keep evolving. Microsoft has boosted some security features for the Windows Server operating system from Server 2008 R2. Many of the new security enhancements are designed to work with Windows 8 clients and in Windows domains, such as Dynamic Access Control (covered in Chapter 5).

For domain security, there are five new Group Policy settings available in Server 2012 that can be used for extra security:

Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts

This option prevents a new Microsoft account from being added to a computer. In Group Policy, you can configure this feature by going to Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PoliciesSecurity Options.
