Managing the File System with fsutil
You can use the file system utility (fsutil) to perform advanced tasks on FAT and NTFS file systems. The NTFS file system automatically performs regular checks and maintenance on drives, and when it discovers problems, it fixes them. However, there might be times when you want to use fsutil to query the drives.
The fsutil command needs to be run with elevated privileges for some of the commands. There are many more commands available with fsutil, but this shows some basic commands:
