    Occasionally, you'll need to find out what Samba is up to, such as when Samba is performing an unexpected action or is not performing at all. To find out why Samba did what it did, check the logfiles.

    Samba logfiles can be as brief or verbose as you like. Here is an example of what a Samba logfile at level 3 looks like:
