176 SAP MM Q UESTIONS AND A NSWERS In the case of goods movements, the following documents are prepared: Material documents --This is the document that is gener- ated when the goods movement is posted. It is proof of the movement of goods. The material document con- tains general data relating the movement of the goods and items. Accounting documents --Accounting documents are pre- pared if the goods movements influence the financial accounting. They are prepared parallel to the material documents. Apart from the preceding documents, there are a number of documents that are prepared alongside the material documents associated with goods movements. The G/L accounts associated with a goods movement are updated through an automatic goods assignment. Accounting entries contain local as well as foreign currencies. This is so that the goods movements are automatically man- aged in the context of both the local and foreign currencies. 23. How is a material document cancelled? A material document is cancelled when you specify the wrong entries, such as the wrong material quantity and goods move- ments, during the creation of the material document. Cancelling goods movements requires the following: Entering a reverse document --A reverse document is entered with a reference to the original document. The advantage of this is that the cancelled documents are copied from the original documents. The reversal of goods issued, transfer posting, and goods receipts without references are posted with the value of the original documents. The reversal of goods with reference to the purchase order or production order is posted with the values specified in the purchase order or production order.
