14 Migrating Fortran Code Introduction This chapter examines the process of migrating Fortran code to the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. This migration may be to either the Win32 subsystem or the Interix subsystem. Fortran is relatively easy to port between platforms, largely due to the high degree of standardization between Fortran compilers and to the types of applications for which Fortran is typically used. The main difficulties with migrating Fortran code are often associated with either
