Maturity Models
Understanding whether your organization is ready to be a cloud provider or consumer is a critical part of the process. Cloud is a buzzword, and there are a lot of IT executives, engineers, and people in the business community who are jumping on the cloud hype train without thinking where it will take them or the cost of the journey. Any assessment needs to cover a number of dimensions, and one of the most recognized ways of assessing maturity is using a maturity model. Chapter 3, “Data Center Architecture and Technologies,” discussed maturity models and a whole host of different models exists, but the grandfather of them all is the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) model, which is shown in Figure 14-1.
