Persisting Service Data

As the cloud provider moves toward a more dynamic environment, the mechanisms for managing the relationship among the infrastructures, the service, and the SLA will become more complex, but also more critical for tracking usage and simplifying the assurance processes. Many service models are beginning to emerge from software vendors to try and address this. The high-level model for the VMware vCloud API is shown in Figure 10-6, and although it accurately represents the relationship among VMs, virtual networks, and an organization and its network “container” or VDC, it does not show any relationship between the physical infrastructure (servers, networking, or storage) or any other hypervisor technology.3 Although it can be extended, it is not enough at present to represent a complete IaaS instance.
