This book does an excellent job of presenting the big picture understanding of all the components that make up vSphere. The authors does a pretty good job of presenting how each components works, where they fit, and some best practices that are used in the field.   The book is easy to follow and easy to understand. Each component of vSphere is broken down beginning with its description, purpose, how it works,  where it fits, and it is used in the field.

I found this book to be more a preparation tool for the field book than it is a field manual. The book does not go into the practical details of how the components are configured, such as what keystrokes to use  to configure each component.   I was not expecting this book to this.   This book fully met my needs for understanding VMware, preparing for the VCP exam and building my personal VMware lab.  I purchased this book along with both of Scott Lowes' books to prepare for the VCP and to setup my home lab. This book also is an excellent reference book as well.
I would recommend this book to anyone just getting started learning VMware, preparing for the VCP exam.
