Basic Inventory Operations

This section mainly focuses on the folder and datacenter and leaves the operations of the virtual machine and physical host to the following chapters.

Like many other methods, these inventory manipulation methods require some privileges. Check the API reference for the detailed privilege requirement for each method of interest. Also, make sure to test your applications using the credentials of your targeted users before you deliver them because users are assigned with unique roles and privileges that can lead to different results while invoking these methods.
