Building the JavaScript Application

A primary goal of the Client Object Model is to provide a similar development experience across the various client technologies. Accessing SharePoint through JavaScript is very similar to the way it is done in Silverlight. To demonstrate this, you will build an application that accomplishes the same functionality as the previous example. This time, you will use JavaScript. This project will consist of an ASPX page that includes the JavaScript code to access the SharePoint list. This web page will be deployed through a SharePoint module, just like the Silverlight application from earlier in this chapter.

  1. Start with an empty SharePoint project.
  2. Enter BookSearchJavaScript as the project name and set the location to your SharePoint development folder, as shown in Figure 11-19.
