Chapter 2: Working with Disks, Folders, ... > Using Different Folder Views

Using Different Folder Views

You can view Finder windows in four ways. Icon view is convenient when a folder contains just a few files and you want to be able to tell them apart quickly. List view enables you to sort the contents of a window, and column view provides a quick way of burrowing down into a series of nested folders. The glamorous Cover Flow view speaks for itself.

Image If the icons are stacked on top of each other, choose View, Clean Up By to space them out so you can see them all.

Image Drag the bar between two columns to adjust the columns’ width.

Image Tip: Wide Angle View

To adjust column widths in column view, drag the small double line at the bottom of the column divider. It’s only visible if the column contains a list of files and folders; you can’t adjust empty columns.
