Lesson 12. Running Windows on Your Mac > Installing and Using a Virtual Environ...

Installing and Using a Virtual Environment to Run Windows

When you use a virtual environment to run Windows, you don’t have to choose one OS or the other because you can run them both at the same time. This makes sharing data between the two environments easy. If you find yourself running Windows often, I recommend you use a virtual approach because it makes switching between Windows and the Mac OS so much easier. And you can do tasks in both at the same time.

There are two primary virtualization programs available: VMware Fusion and Parallels Desktop for Mac. Both of these applications work well and offer a similar feature set. Each also offers a free trial so you can check them out to see which you prefer.
