Chapter 10. Keep Your Mac Secure > Network Safely with Wi-Fi

Network Safely with Wi-Fi

The last piece of the personal security puzzle is protecting your computer when connecting to a network via Wi-Fi wireless networking. Wi-Fi is a weak link because signals travel through the air, and anyone with another computer and free software can intercept and view your data if it’s not secured.

Note

Ethernet-connected computers and broadband networks are generally considered safe. Ethernet requires physical access—someone in your house or office—to break into. Broadband networks are generally well secured and monitored at the various network buildings through which data passes.
