4. Getting Comfortable with Lion

This chapter gives you an overview of working with the Lion user interface, including the desktop, menus, important icons on the Dock, and shutting down your Mac.

In this chapter, I help you get familiar with the default appearance and behavior of your Mac—that is, with the original settings that come with a new Mac. I discuss some of the basic features you are presented with when you start your Mac as well as how to use some of the most basic tools and applications, such as the desktop, the menu bar, contextual menus, the Dock, and the Dashboard. Additionally, I show you how to put the Mac to sleep or shut it down.
