Using the Carrot and the Stick

Given that any iOS device user can choose to not be part of your MDM solution, you now have the “carrot and stick” challenge of balancing things the user wants or needs (such as a VPN configuration that contains a shared secret) against configurations that the user might feel restricted by. As with traditional desktop management, there is a balance between enabling and restricting. It helps if you determine:

• The problems you are helping your iOS users solve

• The resources your users need to access

• The risk an iOS device introduces into your environment
