CHAPTER 8 - The Teacher > EXPLAINING THE COACHING PROCESS, THEORY, AND MODELS B...

EXPLAINING THE COACHING PROCESS, THEORY, AND MODELS BEING USED

In the third Aspect, the Teacher makes the coaching process itself visible, so the client can be a more informed partner and ultimately competent and self-generative in guiding her own development. This runs counter to the attachments of some coaches to providing something that is unique, magical, and transformative. This attachment serves the coach’s identity needs beautifully but rarely serves the client.
Good coaching that can transform people’s lives is founded on commonsense principles and practices about how humans learn and change. Revealing this truth, and thereby demystifying the process, is good practice, builds a more robust partnership between coach and client, and empowers the client around the learning process.
