Identity theft can take on repercussions that you can hardly imagine. You can be arrested for a crime committed by someone who has stolen your identity. You can become an identity theft victim merely by filing your tax returns or what you think are your tax returns. You can even be sued by companies with which you do business seeking compensation for fraudulent accounts even after it has been established that you are the victim of identity theft.
