Another example would be silver. During the entire time period on the chart in Figure 4.5 the commercials had been short silver. But, as they prove to us in this example, it is not the absolute position that matters. Far from it. It is the relative position over the time period under observation, in this case three years, that matters the most.
If you don’t know it now, you soon will. There are camps or sides in most markets, and nowhere else are they more apparent than in the precious metals, gold and silver. The bullish camp, those looking for wildly higher prices, has made a mantra and religion out of silver. To them the world is going to hell and the sooner the better. I feel that way myself at times, but there are other moments when I know life will move forward and things will get better.
