When I was a kid, I had an art toy called Colorforms®. It consisted of shiny black pages onto which I could place cutout vinyl shapes. The vinyl pieces stuck to the black pages without any glue or tape, which I found quite remarkable. I could put them down and pick them up and move them around however I wanted, creating all sorts of patterns and pictures.
Forty plus years later, as I play with Macromedia Fireworks, I see how similar it is to Colorforms. Unlike the plastic Colorforms pieces, objects on my Fireworks pages can be stretched, distorted, and otherwise transformed into unlimited variations.
Hundreds of pieces came in my Colorforms set, but with Fireworks I can duplicate them over and over. There is no limit to how many objects I can have on the page. Not only that, Fireworks objects don't ever get lost under the cushions of the couch!
