I can’t find a drop shadow filter anywhere on the Filters menu. Where’s it hiding?
Although the Filter menu contains all sorts of goodies, drop shadows are an entirely different kind of thing. Drop shadows are considered a layer effect, so they live with the other layer controls. The easiest way to add a drop shadow is to click the Add a Layer Style button in the Layers palette and choose Drop Shadow from the popup menu (Figure 7.3). The Layer Style dialog box opens with the Drop Shadow effect selected, and you can adjust the settings from there. After you apply a drop shadow, you can see it attached to the layer in the Layers palette, and you can edit the drop shadow by double-clicking it in the Layers palette.
