F.7. Specifying Endpoint Source Values

Before you can remap the endpoints of a scan, you must make Photoshop aware of your target press’ reproducible range. For this example, assume you’ve already determined that the press will tolerate a range from 8% to 90%. Follow these steps:

1.
Choose Image: Adjust: Curves. The Curves dialog box appears.

2.
To set the shadow dot, double-click the black Eyedropper button. The color picker appears.

3.
In the CMYK fields, enter C:0, M:0, Y:0, K:90. Click OK. A

To set the highlight dot, double-click the white Eyedropper button. The color picker appears again.

5.
In the CMYK fields, enter C:0, M:0, Y:0, K:8. Click OK. B
