Once you have found some additional third-party filters to add to Photoshop’s own, you need to move them into the correct folder—here’s how.
Many new filters or plug-ins that you download will come with an installer that automatically loads the software into the right place. However, if you have to manually install the software, this is how you load new filters. Remember that once you have installed the filters, you will need to restart Photoshop.
On a Mac:
1. Make sure Photoshop isn’t running (so Quit if it is!), open a new window, and navigate to Applications > Adobe Photoshop CS5 > Plug-ins > Filters.
2. Drag the filter into that folder and launch Photoshop. You should find that the new filter has been added to the Filters menu.
