Chrome

It’s usually difficult to decipher the original image after applying the Chrome filter, but using the Divide blending mode can create some interesting effects that overlay the original image instead.

1. Duplicate the Background layer by dragging it down to the Create a new layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.

2. Go to Filter > Convert to Smart Filters so that you can change the settings you like afterward.

3. With the layer still selected, go to Filter > Sketch > Chrome and apply the settings shown above.

4. To reintroduce some color, double-click the Chrome blending options icon in the Layers palette, and in the Blending Options dialog box select Divide and set Opacity to 65%.

This interesting texture and color arises from reducing the effect of the Chrome filter by adjusting the Blending Options of the Smart Filter layer.
